Update - Fri 2/17/12
Hey guys -
So here’s the deal. I haven’t been super strict with doing my insanity workouts as prescribed. I’m using the workouts as a way to get a workout in at home when it seems appropriate. Therefore, I’ve only done about 2 weeks worth of the workouts.
That’s not to say I don’t do other active stuff when I can - because I do.
Regardless - 10lbs gone.

Insanity Day 3 - Cardio Power & Resistance
Working from home today - so I decided to spend my lunch break getting Insanity out of the way.
My muscle soreness is pretty severe, but after the warm-up, that was the least of my worries. I do like the quickness of these workouts - the pace is so different from P90X.

Insanity
I’m back, long lost tumblr universe. After well over a year - lots of things have changed. I have graduated from college, moved to Washington, DC to begin my career, am living on my own, and subsequently….spend 40 hours a week sitting behind a desk.
Therefore, needless to say, its more of a struggle for me to stay in shape.
So, once again, I’ve turned to Beachbody to help me...

Round 2 Day 9 - Plyometrics...I mean, Cardio X
So my plyo disc doesn’t read for some reason…while I’m in the process of getting another one..I’ll just have to do Cardio X instead.

Round 2 Day 8 Chest and Back, Ab Ripper X
Today was chest and back. The real deal, WITH the pull up bar again. I feel a little demoralized. I know that I’m still leaps and bounds above where I was on Day 1 of Round 1, but not where I was on Day 90.
3 Reasons:
A month of doing nothing
A month of poor diet
A month of weight gain (the sum total)
It’s ok though. No worries.
Unfortunately, I didn’t do Ab Ripper X...

Round 2 Days 1-7
So…first off let me apologize for rolling the week into one post. I decided to start round two the same way I ended round 1. On vacation. Ambitious I know…but a success overall. I forgot how sore you can get in the first week..it wasn’t as bad as the first time around and my performance was certainly better…but still. Ouch. I used the bodylastics bands I just purchased...

My Tumblr Peeps...I have Returned! With P90X...
What’s up everybody??? I have been super MIA for about a month or so now.
Took an extended vacation from all things exercise while I made some life transitions (new job, etc). BUT..I’m back.
I’m jumping on the P90X wagon for round 2 starting next monday. I’ve ordered some bodylastics bands to enable my workouts while i travel…and have ripped the vids to my ipod....

Day 91 - Gym - Chest and Back
Yesterday was the first day of my non-P90X-exclusive workout.
I’m wanting to keep it mixed up, so I’m taking a break between rounds to hit the gym and attempt to put on some lean mass.
Here was my routine:
Dumbbell Bench Press - 4 x 6 (45 lbs)
Wide Front Pullups - 3 x max reps
Dumbbell Flies - 4 x 6 (30 lbs)
Chinups - 3 x max reps
Military Pushups - 1 x 20
Lawnmowers - 1 x 8...

What's next?
Some mass. I’ve lost a good amount of weight, which has give clarity to the fact that I don’t have NEARLY enough muscle mass.
So that’s my goal for the next couple of months. Put on mass, while continuing to eat clean and attempt to keep the fat gain to a minimum.
I will continue to do P90X cardio workouts, probably 3 times per week, while lifting heavier weights at the gym...

Update! Round 1 In the Books!
OK ladies and gentleman.
I’m calling this thing.
I finished up my last strength workout last night, and had used my vacation as my recovery week. So that’s it. 90 days, give or take.
I’ve lost roughly 17 lbs since I began Round 1. From 170lbs to 153lbs. My pullups increased by about 5-7 per set and pushups increased about 10-15 per set.
I am in much MUCH better shape than...

Day 82 - Weigh-In
Morning Weight: 153.5
This brings me to an even 22 BMI. I’m pretty stoked about that! Too bad this weekend is throwing a real WRENCH in my schedule. Nothing that can’t be overcome with time though, c’est la vie!

Day 81 - Yoga X
Morning Weight: 155 lbs.
Got my sweat on. That is all. 155 looked mighty good…hoping for 154.5 in the morning!
Unfortunately, I’m boarding a plane in the morning for NJ. I don’t have resistance bands so I don’t know what I’m going to do for workouts. Probably some running and bodyweight stuff (pushups) and just resume on legs and back when I get home.

Day 80 - Shoulders and Arms, Ab Ripper X, Cardio X
Morning Weight: 156 lbs.
Today was shoulders and arms. I pushed through it and got a good pump as usual. I feel really good through the first half of it, then hit a wall pretty fast.
Afterwards was Ab Ripper. I would say that I didn’t get the MOST amount of reps that I ever have today, but my form was cleaner (making them harder).
Cardio X later tonight. Trying to finish strong.

Day 79 - Plyo X

Day 78 - Chest and Back
OK so I’m slack.
Tonight I was feeling terrible. A weird side-cramp, all my numbers were down. That’s what 2 days riding in a car does for you I guess…not to mention my back’s been bothering me all day due to sleeping in 3 different beds in 3 days.
(EDIT: Also wicked dehydrated apparently.)
Oh well. I got Chest and Back in at least.

Small Gap
OK, so check it out. I spent father’s day weekend on the road…heading up to NJ to visit with my girlfriend’s family.
Needless to say, that much time on the road made working out difficult. I did, however, squeeze in a Cardio X workout one day.
So, Friday was my rest day.
Saturday I did Cardio X.
Sunday I did nada.
Today is monday and I’m about to start this week...

Day 76 - Kenpo X
Morning Weight: 157.5 lbs.
So today was supposed to be kenpo x, but I subbed for Cardio X.
My hip flexors are TIRED…so kicking is just adding insult to injury.
I’m looking forward to finishing up next week and taking a break for awhile and letting my body chill for a bit.

Day 75 - Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X, Cardio X
Morning Weight: 158.5
Still trying to shed off that vacation water-weight.
Anyway, today was legs and back..I really don’t enjoy that workout very much, but I pushed through it…only 1 more time before day 90!
Also, pushed hard through ab ripper today…felt good.
Now its time for me to get my night-time sweat on with Cardio X.

Day 74 - Yoga X
Took in a good stretch today. I need it…doubles is killing me. But the end is neigh!
I haven’t weighed in the past couple of days to allow my weight to recover from “vacation mode”. Once I think I’ve had ample time to shed the excess water, I’ll start again.

Today was a travel day to get home, but hit up shoulder and arms.

Morning Weight: 155 lbs.
Approx. another pound down. Crazy.
Today “should’ve been” rest day, but I have a wedding tomorrow, so I’m going to use it as my rest day. (Plus that will give my legs a break before plyo this week.)

Day 69 - Kenpo X
Morning Weight: 156 lbs.
I have literally lost a pound every day this week. I can’t really explain that, but I am starting to get really lean.
Built up a good sweat tonight.
Now time to study for some exams.
adrianhummel asked: I just started phase 3 yesterday and was losing weight but then after week 4 I stopped and have stayed in between a 2-3lbs difference since then. I can tell I am losing inches but not necessarily weight. Day 68 - Legs and Back, Ab Ripper X, Cardio X
Morning Weight: 157 lbs.
Legs and Back was a disaster today. I got a little over halfway through and just HIT A WALL. My food schedule got all screwed up today and I think that’s part of the problem. Let’s face it, my metabolism is on ultra-overdrive right now and if I don’t nourish myself right, I can forget going hard for 1.5 hours on a workout.

Day 67 - Yoga
Morning Weight: 157.5 lbs.
I’m continuing on my path of maintaining weight loss. It’s a good feeling not to be roller coaster-ing and making constant progress.
Today was yoga, and I got a good sweat on and gave my hammie’s a good stretch.

Day 66 - Back/Biceps, Ab Ripper X, Cardio X
Morning Weight: 158 lbs.
Back and Biceps is a real killer…my arms get so blasted. To the point where I’m doing 2 pullups and struggling to do them late in the workout.
Ab Ripper was better today than it’s been in awhile…not sure why.
Cardio X awaits after dinner…hoping for 157 tomorrow morning!

Day 65 - Plyo X (You're killing me doubles!)
Morning Weight: 160 lbs.
I was retaining some water this morning after a non-optimal Saturday night…nothing crazy, but just a little dehydrated.
Needless to say Plyo X took care of that…now, at 7pm still at 160 haha.
I must say though, I had to cut Plyo a little short tonight. I can tell that doubles is really starting to take a toll on my legs…I can especially feel it...

Tumblr =/= Very Conversational
Does anyone else get annoyed at the lack of options to carry on a dialog via tumblr? I’m trying to figure out how to respond to a question asked via comment on one of my posts and I can’t. Figure it out tumblr.
yoitsadrian - if you read this, i definitely had that same phenomenon…not losing lbs. but losing inches. Keep pressing forward and the scale will eventually catch up....

Day 61 - Legs and Back, Ab Ripper, Cardio X
Morning Weight: 159 lbs
I don’t think I can tell you how awesome it is to see myself on the scale under 160lbs. I’m getting dangerous close to my weight goals, and my body is starting to look how it should.
Today was legs and back…have to go to a music rehearsal now, so Ab Ripper and Cardio will be tonight.
Doubles is really making a difference as far as my metabolism...

Day 58 - Plyo X
Today was Plyo…had a full day yesterday, so I’m using it as my “rest day” for the week. I did play 18 holes of golf though, so at least I was pseudo-active.
Plyo just never seems to get easy…easier..just not easy.

Well…doubles is tough.
But I did it…and I’m gonna keep doing it for the next 3 weeks. Pushing to the end and trying to get as ripped as possible by July 4th.
It’s an arbitrary date, but is always a big beach weekend for me…so it seems relevant? Right?

OK no, really. Chest and Back, Day 57
So things are back to normal.
I have a routine, and that means I can make P90X a part of it again.
I am finishing up my first 90 days, and today was day 57. Its nice to see the results of the first two months show up in that “first” workout.
Going to hit it “doubly” hard tonight with Cardio X. I’m serious. I want to finish strong…I’m so close.

Here We Go! Month 3! Day 57--Chest and Back/Ab...
OK People—I’ve been slack.
I took a few weeks off due to finals and everything and have been just waiting to start up month 3 because I want to really push through and finish this thing right.
Today was chest and back.
It was a good feeling to knock out WAY more pushups and pullups than I was able to during the 1st phase.

Day 50, May 3rd-- Yoga
Replaced yoga x with another ashtanga yoga dvd. The pace was much higher and I got a good sweat on.
May 1--Took a Run
Went for a couple miles again today, mixed in some pullups and pushups.
Felt good.
Kind of getting through my “recovery week” as best as I can…then hitting the last month post-finals hard.

Day 49, April 29th--Core Synergistics
So I missed Kenpo X.
Yes I know.
I did however go for a 2.5 mile run today (around 20mins) and also did my core syn.
You might be saying, but day 1 of a recovery week is YOGA! You’d be right, but I’m swapping the two this week so I can do yoga tomorrow with my g/f. I’m sure she’ll be thrilled.

Day 47, April 26th--Legs and Back
So technically today would have been Kenpo, but I took my rest day this week yesterday, so I’m a “day behind”.
Anyway, pushed through the workout even though its been difficult to get motivated lately.
Saving Ab Ripper for tomorrow when I have more time in my schedule.
Going to start focusing and make sure the last month of this is as focused and effective as possible.

Update: Days 44-46
I’ve been on track.
Back and Biceps on Friday was cut a little short, but had a glorious pump anyway.
Yoga was tough, and i subbed half of it with X-stretch because I needed a good stretch.
I took my rest day yesterday (Sunday) and will be doing Legs and Back tonight and Kenpo tomorrow.

Day 43, April 22nd- Plyometrics
Plyo tonight.
The good news is that I ate a decent amount of carbs so it helped keep my energy up through the workout.

Day 43 Update Photo
It’s been awhile since I’ve done an update photo…mainly because there hasn’t been a lot of dramatic change.
All my numbers are going up, but my body doesn’t look tons different, especially from just a snapshot of the front and side relaxed, but here it is anyway.
